The Woodbine Cares Community Garden returned after a pandemic hiatus, and the season is being hailed as a tremendous success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were able to distribute 3,000 pounds of fresh food this year to community groups and workers living in the backstretch,\u201d said Kimberley Medeiros, Woodbine\u2019s Director of Government Relations and Corporate Citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than 13,000 pounds has been donated since the garden was created in 2016. It\u2019s an achievement that everyone involved should be proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3700\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3700\" style=\"width: 4928px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/woodbine.com\/woodbine-news\/woodbine-cares-community-garden-year-in-review\/attachment\/dsc_51912\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3700\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3700\" src=\"https:\/\/woodbine.com\/corporate\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/10\/DSC_51912.jpg\" alt=\"Woodbine Community Garden (Michael Burns Photo)\" width=\"4928\" height=\"3280\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3700\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Woodbine Community Garden (Michael Burns Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The garden\u2019s revitalization and care were overseen by the agricultural non-profit Sundance Commons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStarting a large garden from scratch is always a big but rewarding\u00a0experience,\u201d said Sundance Commons\u2019 Executive Director, Cheyenne Sundance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team is grateful for this opportunity\u00a0to steward the land and produce a bounty of vegetables for the local community. The season went very well, better than expected!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Education was a key component of the garden. Members of the public were invited to take part in hands-on learning during Community Days.
